What Are CS2/CS:GO Patches?

Patches were introduced in early 2020 and can be thought about as being similar to stickers. But, instead of being for a weapon, they are for your agent. There are a lot of players who say that cs patches are useless. Why? Because the player who buys them doesn’t get to see them in-game at all, not even a glimpse, not a corner, nothing. While that does carry some weight. We can’t help but argue that patches aren’t for looking at. They are for showing off. There is a difference. Let’s take a look at how cs patches work.

How do Patches Work in CS2?

Patches are placed on your agent in 1 of 3 locations; on the front, back, or on your agent’s shoulder. Like weapons skins, cs patches come in different rarities:

• Blue – High Grade
• Purple – Remarkable
• Purple – Gold
• Pink – Exotic

Basically, you buy a patch, slap it on your agent, and let everyone you frag admire it as you stand over them. The wildest part is not that people buy cosmetics that they can’t see. Nope. The wildest part is the price that some of these patches can reach. Come along as we list the must-have patches in each collection.

Top CS2 Patch Collections and Their Featured Patches

Currently, there are 7 Patch Collections available in CS2. The number of patches in each collection ranges from 11 to 21 Patches. The Patch prizes range from almost free to “should I really pay that much for something I’ll never see?” We aren’t joking. Some patches get very expensive. How expensive? So, here’s our list of every Patch Collection from “ok” to “best”. And within each collection, we’re picking our favorite 3 patches. If you’re reading this, you may already own a few.

Stockholm 2021 Contenders Patch Pack

This patch collection was introduced as part of the PGL Major Stockholm 2021 and, as the name suggests, features cs patches for the teams that qualified for the Contenders stage of the PGL Major Stockholm 2021. Each patch is designed to represent the team’s branding.

Date released: October 21st, 2021

Tournament: 2021 PGL Stockholm

Patch price range: from around $0.27 to about $27.00. Keep in mind, prices change daily.

Number 3: Sharks Esports (Gold) | Stockholm 2021

Price: about $12.00

Rarity: Remarkable

Why we like it: well, for one, it’s gold. Who doesn’t like gold? And two, we love the look of the shark biting the team’s name.

Number 2: Tyloo (Gold) | Stockholm 2021

Price: about $27.00

Rarity: Remarkable

Why we like it: Again, it’s gold. We love the team. That’s about it.

Best patch of all the Stockholm 2021 Contenders Patches: FaZe Clan (Gold) | Stockholm 2021

Price: about $21.00

Rarity: Remarkable

Why we like it: And one more time, it’s gold. Though it’s not as expensive as the patch in our number 2 spot, we like the simplicity and clean look of the logo.

Overall thoughts: We like cs patches from the Stockholm 2021 Contenders Patch Pack. However, we don’t think we would get one. There are much better patches out there than a team logo patch. Of course, that’s our opinion.

Coming in at number 6

Half-Life: Alyx Patches

Valve’s VR game, Half-Life: Alyx was the inspiration for the patches in this patch collection. If you love the game, flex on your opponents by donning one of these patches.

Why we like it: Love the futuristic look of the helmet. And the blue eyes. It’s a very nice color.

Number 2: City 17

Why we like it: It’s a very cool abstract shape. Also, it’s not expensive.

Best patch of all the Half-Life: Alyx Patches: Health

Price: $17.50

Rarity:

Why we like it: A throwback to health status from early video games. Reminds us of the life counter in “Contra.” Yes, we are that old.

Overall thoughts: There are some very cool patches in this collection. The prices are reasonable. Even if you can’t see the patch yourself, it’s worth picking one up for less than a dollar.

This patch collection was introduced as part of the PGL Major Stockholm 2021 and, as the name suggests, features patches for the teams that qualified for the Challengers stage of the PGL Major Stockholm 2021. Each patch is designed to represent the team’s branding.

Why we like it: The logo being red really helps it stand out on the patch. Adds more depth to the patch.

Why we like it: Cool logo that looks great with the red and gold.

Overall thoughts: Again, we like cs:go patches from the Stockholm 2021 Challengers Patch Pack. We think it’s best to keep scrolling to see what other patch packs have to offer.

Why we like it: Stolen Metallica valor. And one of the best songs they ever made.

Best patch of all the Metal Skill Group Patches: Metal Silver Demon

Why we like it: why wouldn’t we like it? Though, it does kind of steal the style of Slayer. But, we guess that’s the point.

Overall thoughts: If you like heavy metal, you’ll need to pick one of these up. They have tons of options that emulate your favorite bands.

This patch collection was introduced as part of the PGL Major Stockholm 2021 and, as the name suggests, features cs:go patches for the teams that qualified for the Legends stage of the PGL Major Stockholm 2021. Each patch is designed to represent the team’s branding.

Why we like it: unlike the two below. We love how this logo looks in gold.

Number 2: Vitality

Why we like it: Cool logo. It also looks best in its original yellow color.

Best patch of all the Stockholm 2021 Legends Patches: Natus Vincere

Price: $3.50

Rarity: High Grade

Why we like it: We love the look of the NAVI logo. And it beats the gold version as the logo always looks best in yellow!

Overall thoughts: Last time, we like cs:go patches from the Stockholm 2021 Legend Patch Pack. The last 2 patch packs have much more to offer in terms of themes and design.

As close to best as it gets. Just not best. At number 2

CS:GO Patch Pack

This pack of cs2 agent patches​ is a fun, playful addition to CS patches. You can find a variety of game-themed designs that the CS community loves.

Why we like it: The design is amazing. They couldn’t have created a better sync between the look and name.

Number 2: Chicken Lover

Why we like it: It’s also very cheap. And because only your ops can see it, it’s basically calling them a chicken lover.

Best patch of all Stockholm 2021 Contenders Patches: The Boss

Price: $21.00

Rarity: Exotic

Why we like it: A golden skull wearing a crown. The name really fits the look of this design as well.

Overall thoughts: Tons of choices here. It was tough to pick only 3. If you want a cool patch at a cheap price, check out this patch pack.

What you’ve been scrolling for. Number 1

Operation Riptide Patches

This pack of cs2 agent patches is another grouping of random and cool patches connected to the game. By far, it’s our favorite overall collection. Be prepared though, things get a bit pricey here.

Why we like it: It’s a cool concept. The execution of the art is nice as well.

Why we like it: It’s a very calming design with great colors.

Best patch of all the Operation Riptide Patches: Bayonet Frog

Price: $530.00

Rarity: Exotic

Why we like it: It’s a frog skeleton holding a bayonet. What a concept.

Overall thoughts: Things get a bit more expensive here. Is it worth it for something you can’t see? For some, yes. For us, yes.

You can get your hands on a patch in several different ways:

Conclusion

Though all patches CS2​ aren’t seen by the person who wears them, they are a cool but debatable addition to CS. Since some of the patches cost less than a dollar, we don’t see a reason not to slap one on your favorite agent.
