CS2 “Mission Possible” Update: All You Need to Know About Weekly Missions, Maps & More

It’s always a thrill to meet a new update, see new maps, and fix bugs. After a month since the last changes, Valve has introduced the CS2 “Mission Possible” Update. It doesn’t bring a new skin collection or a rifle or knife. Still, we cannot ignore it for essential reasons.

For example, now we have weekly missions and can ignore the players we don’t want to communicate with on Steam. But we are running ahead. Let’s save time and explore the “Mission Possible” Update in detail!

In article you will find:

ARMORY

As we already mentioned, with the “Mission Possible” Update, CS2 players have weekly missions. Valve has tried to make them as high-level as possible. So, how does it work?

Each week, players receive one mission. That mission expires after a week. You get XP points as soon as you complete it. If you don’t complete it, the mission is gone, and XP points could have been lost, too. If you complete a weekly mission, you must wait the next week for a new one.

Of course, the number of XP points you earn depends on how complex your mission is. For example, you will earn more XP points with the mission “Win ten matches on Agency map,” and your friend will earn fewer XP points with the mission “Win three matches on Jura map.”

MAPS

Since we started discussing the maps, we should continue our CS2 “Mission Possible” guide with the maps’ updates. And the first thing is the community maps which Valve has removed:

  • Basalt
  • Edin
  • Palais
  • Whistle

Now, these maps are removed from all game modes. But what did we get in return with the CS2 “Mission Possible” Update? Of course, there are two Wingman maps:

  • Dogtown: The calmness map on a pier with a Ferris wheel, carousel, and rollercoaster.
  • Brewery: This map has a substantial visual upgrade since we saw it in CS:GO.

Also, there are three 5v5 maps:

  • Agency: One more well-known map from CS:GO time, which also has a lot of changes.
  • Jura: This map shares the terrain of the Polish Jurassic Highlands.
  • Grail: Here is the bright mini-golf club with octopus, palms, gold, and castle.

Lastly, Valve has re-organized Casual and Deathmatch map groups:

  • Defusal Group Alpha: Dust 2, Mirage, Inferno, Vertigo.
  • Defusal Group Delta: Train, Anubis, Ancient, Overpass, Nuke.
  • Community Map Group: Jura, Grail, Agency.
  • Hostage Group: Office, Italy.

AUDIO

Here are the updates in audio:

  • Valve added a “Main Menu Ambience Volume” setting.
  • An attacker’s feedback sound is fixed when a player shoots visible enemies over the top of smoke.
  • Fixed moments where some gameplay sounds were inaudible or skipped.
  • Valve removed the following console commands: snd_setmixer, snd_setmixlayer, snd_soundmixer_setmixlayer_amount, and snd_soundmixer_set_trigger_factor.

MISC

The last things in “Mission Possible” Update are two fixed bugs:

  • First, the game ignores players’ invites, which you marked as “Block All Communication” in Steam.
  • Second, Valve fixed a bug with input bindings to scancode56 (US English key “/”), which did not persist across app launches.

Wrapping Up!

While the CS2 “Mission Possible” update might not be the biggest overhaul, it introduces meaningful improvements — from crucial bug fixes to fresh maps and the new weekly mission system. It’s the kind of update that refines the experience rather than revolutionizes it.
