Features
Let’s take a closer look at new features:
Genesis Uplink Terminal:
- Players can get the Genesis Uplink Terminal through the weekly drop pool. The difference is that users open the case for free. After they open it, players have an offer to buy a random skin from Genesis Collection for a random price. Each offer is active for three days.
- Players can accept it, get a new skin, and the Terminal gets deleted. If users decline the offer, they get a new one, with up to 5 proposals from each Genesis Uplink Terminal. If every offer is rejected, the container gets deleted until players obtain a new one.
Map Scripting:
- Valve added cs_script, a JavaScript-based scripting system from the Counter-Strike map.
- Also added script_zoo.vmap, whose primary role is to demonstrate cs_script usage and functionality.
UI:
- Players can inspect another player’s loadout while spectating.
- Valve added to all inspect panels zoom (mousewheel) and pan (Shift+drag).
Sound:
- Valve added a unique higher-fidelity sound for each grenade, including its draw, inspect, pin-pull, and throw.
Misc:
- Slight upgrades to subtick shooting consistency.

The Effect of the New Update
The introduction of a new type of container with its random skin functionality and associated cost could directly impact collectors, traders, and market activity. Right now, the community discussions are divided into two camps. One side likes the update features and is ready to explore new skins, and the other side is disappointed since it could influence the trades.
