How the Weekly Drop System Works

Before we begin our journey, let’s know what the CS2 drop system is and how it works. In short, it is a special program created by Valve to reward active players and motivate them to play in official matchmaking. It’s similar to the daily login bonuses, which are basic rewards for players to stay active in free-to-play games.

But what is the difference, and what currently you should do to get the CS2 weekly drops? Of course, there is not only playing but a short list of specific conditions you need to do to:

  • CS2 Prime Status: The essential part of the drop system is purchasing Prime Status, as only Prime players can receive CS2 weekly drops. Additionally, these users can participate in Premier mode matches and earn a CS2 rating.
  • Earning XP: The next important thing is to be active and play in official matchmaking. The more you play in competitive and casual matches, the more XP you can earn.
  • Level Up Profile: Also, you need to earn enough XP to get CS2 free drops. Your goal is 5,000 XP per week from Recruit Rank 1 to Global General Rank 40.
  • Special Tasks: Lastly, you need to complete special tasks during the current week. These tasks could be different. For example, you need to win a number of rounds on Anubis or Dust II.

Each CS2 player can check their current status of the Weekly Case Package in the game shop: the amount of XP they need to earn and the list of items they can choose to obtain.

What Items Can Drop in CS2?

The CS2 weekly drop pool includes four slots each week. Still, you can choose only two of them. For a better understanding, we provide a short list of possible drops:

  • CS2 Case, one Weapon Skin, two Graffities
  • CS2 Case, two Weapon Skins, one Graffiti
  • CS2 Case, three Weapon Skins
  • CS2 Case, three Graffities

Let’s examine the items that can drop in CS2 in detail and determine where you can achieve the highest profit.

CS2 Case

One of the items in the CS2 drop pool you can always get is one of the CS2 cases. Usually, players automatically choose it from the drop. The main reason lies in the value of the case in contrast to other options. Also, there is a chance to get valuable skin through the case opening. Of course, you also need to spend funds for a particular key for it.

Another consideration in choosing the CS2 case is its investment potential. As you are aware, the price of each case may increase, especially when Valve removes that case from the possible drops in CS2. In that situation, the case will become one of the rare items. The only negative aspect is that you need to be patient, as the process can take months or even years.

Here, we provide a list of cases from the active drop pool (99%):

Weapon Skins

One more option you can get in CS2 from weekly drops is weapon skins. Typically, the rarity of these skins is classified as Mil-Spec, Industrial, or Consumer Grade. You should be fortunate to see Restricted, Classified, or even Covert rarity skins in these slots.

Still, it’s a nice choice to add some skins to your collection. You can also collect them and sell them to purchase more valuable skin. Another option is to use these skins for trade-up contracts.

The players can get skins from the following collections:

  • The 2018 Inferno Collection
  • The 2018 Nuke Collection
  • The Safehouse Collection
  • The Dust 2 Collection
  • The Ascent Collection
  • The Boreal Collection
  • The Radiant Collection

Here is the list of possible CS2 skin drops:

Graffiti

Lastly, you can see graffiti on these slots. Predictably, these items aren’t the most popular among players due to the low value of graffiti in the CS2 drop pool. Still, your choice depends on your own goals and preferences.

How the CS2 Drop Pool Works

Generally, let’s take a comprehensive look at how it works:

  1. Purchase Prime Status to receive weekly drops.
  2. Level up your Profile Rank and earn 5,000 XP per week.
  3. Play on official Valve matchmaking servers.
  4. Complete special tasks, such as “7 Round Wins on Anubis.”
  5. Earn a drop before it resets.

CS2 Drop Reset Time & Weekly Limits

Lastly, there is a place for CS2 drop reset time and weekly limits. As we already mentioned, you need to earn 5,000 XP per week to get a drop. There are no ways to trick the system without enough XP and leveling up the profile.

One more essential detail is that you cannot claim your reward for a previous week or even a few of them. That system works by principle: “Use it or lose it.” The ability to earn a drop resets on a fixed schedule once a week. If you don’t use it, it is lost. This is how CS2 drops work.

To Sum Up

Now, you know how to get drops in CS2 and what you can get from them. It’s a great reward for each match and round, including headshots, clutch plays, comebacks, and defusing bombs. You can earn a sought-after Covert skin from an active case pool or even get a coveted Knife. Or maybe the next CS2 skin that drops will be a popular and Classified rarity? Overall, the only thing you need to do is play, earn XP, and stay active. Isn’t it great?
