The Blast.tv Austin Major 2025 was already the third Counter-Strike 2 Major Championship. It was also the second Major hosted by BLAST after Paris 2023. The tournament featured a prize pool of USD 1.25 million.

It was held at the Moody Center on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin. Additionally, it was the first Major with 32 teams; some were directly invited, while others were selected from regional qualifiers.

Group Stage

Eight teams were directly invited based on their Valve Regional Standings (VRS), and sixteen teams were qualified from Major Regional Qualifiers (MRQs). These MRQs were held for Europe, the Americas, and Asia. The last two were also divided into sub-regions.

Playoffs Stage

As soon as Stage 3 was behind, there began time for the Playoffs Stage and a single-elimination bracket. The rates were already high, and there was no place for loafing. But could you predict the results of matches? We either!

Quarterfinals

All previous matches were training. Now, it’s absolutely another level of game, strategy, and movement.

Spirit vs MOUZ

Both teams were eager to deliver their best result. Spirit opened the scoring by winning on Mirage. Still, they couldn’t keep up the good work on Dust II and gave the win to MOUZ. The German pro team also finished the last match on Nuke. MOUZ won with a score of 2:1.

Team Vitality vs Natus Vincere

Team Vitality came to Austin Major with only one goal — a win. And, of course, NaVi didn’t have any chance against the aggressive gamestyle of French opponents. Team Vitality dominated Mirage and Nuke in the first rounds and won with a score of 2:0.

FaZe vs The MongolZ

The first rounds on Mirage for FaZe began with quite remarkable results. The MongoIZ was a formidable opponent, but the American team refused to surrender. Still, as soon as the Mongolian team started to play on CSs side, FaZe lost any chance to win. The second match on Anubis also finished with the victory of The MongoIZ.

paiN vs FURIA

Here, we saw the same situation as in the first Quarterfinal match. paiN did not get the best score on Nuke but had rehabilitated on Anubis. The last match on Inferno was also a loss for FURIA. Overall, paiN won with a score of 2:1.

Semifinals

One more Stage behind and one more reason to be nervous for fans. Of course, the teams that entered the Semifinals were already guaranteed a cash prize. Still, it’s not a good time to relax, right?

MOUZ vs Team Vitality

The match between MOUZ and Team Vitality was quite an anxious one, especially for fans of these teams. The first map, Mirage, began with a confident performance from MOUZ. The German players knew how to deal with their French opponents. Still, after three losses, Team Vitality took the initiative on their side and began to dominate across the map. Everything ended with a score of 8:13 in favor of Team Vitality.

The great beginning for Vitality’s fans, right? Well, the game on Inferno wasn’t so bright. It seems like MOUZ knew every step of their opponents and already created the next crucial strategy. The score for that map was 13:4 in favor of the German team.

Still, on Train, the luck has returned to Vitality. Their several wins on CT’s side didn’t give MOUZ a chance to return to their tempo. Team Vitality won with a score of 2:1.

The MongoIZ vs paiN Gaming

Mirage was an excellent start for paiN Gaming. They won five rounds without any trouble. Still, soon, the luck of the Brazilian team was gone since it was time for The MongoIZ to dominate without any chance for their opponents.

Even the changing of the map from Mirage to Anubis doesn’t help a lot. Every time, The MongoIZ created unbelievable movements, giving paiN Gaming no chance to even think about a victory. As a result, the Mongolian team won 2:0.

Grand Final

Three maps. Two strong opponents. And only one champion. Who will be the winner? Who will grab the main prize and will celebrate the victory? One more small step. Let’s find out!

Mirage

As in the Semifinals, Team Vitality started aggressive gameplay against The MongoIZ. In the first free rounds, they didn’t give a chance for opponents to even think about the victory. But it wasn’t a time to chill.

The Mongolian team soon demonstrated its strength. Rushing, smokes, molotovs, flashbangs — they did everything with precision and wished to win. Moreover, even changing sides didn’t help the French team regain their luck. They couldn’t win a single round.

As a result, The MongoIZ won with a score of 13:5.

Dust II

The results on the previous map didn’t look well for Vitality. Especially because they won on Mirage against MOUZ. Still, the situation on Dust II was much better. From the first rounds, they grab an intuitive in their hands and dominate each time The MongoIZ tries to plant the bomb.

New tactics, speed-of-reaction movements, and unstoppable speed. The French team learned from the previous mistakes and was ready to celebrate their victory.

The situation for The MongoIZ didn’t change even on CT’s side. The best they could do is delay the time. Still, it works only once. Overall, Vitality won with a score of 13:4.

Inferno

The last map. The last chance for a comeback for The MongoIZ. But did they have a chance against such a strong opponent?

Anyway, the first round began quite well for the Mongolian team. Without problems, they won on T’s side. Still, it was only the beginning. And Team Vitality soon showed how prepared they were. As proof, the following five rounds were an absolute nightmare for The MongoIZ. Whatever they did, the French team did more. Once, they won due to a bomb explosion, and one more time by shooting.

After the changing of the sides, there was continued domination by Vitality. Four wins against three by The MongoIZ. And, as you can already understand, the French team took the victory at that time.

Congratulations to Team Vitality!
