Which map will join the Premier map pool? Is it the moment to spend your Armory Credits? Follow our material and make sure you won’t miss a detail.

Premier
Premier Season Five finally arrived. And, as you can notice, it is the moment to join the favorite maps and fight to show the best result on the battlefield. To make your experience more exciting, there are a few changes in the Premier map pool. Well, technically, it’s not news. But it’s one thing to hear rumors and finally see it in the lobby.
Of course, we are talking about adding Cache to the Active Duty Map Pool in the new update of CS2. While most veterans waited for one of the most balanced maps for years, now they can enjoy the fight on it in Premier Season Five, not just Competitive. But, for sure, it is not so exciting for Overpass fans since the map was removed from the Map Pool this season. By the way, have you also fought it would be Anubis?
Gameplay
Anyway, there are other changes in the CS2 new update we cannot ignore. Among them, the C4 explosion damage on all official defusal-mode maps. Now, damage is applied according to precomputed simulation values that are baked into the compiled map. Moreover, the shockwave damage from the explosion rapidly expands outward from the center rather than being applied instantly. The interesting detail is that you can use your wits to survive. Alternatively, check your health bar. It will flash a preview of the approximate damage you will get after an explosion.
Among other changes in the CS2 update, Valve fixed the case where picking up dropped weapons through the Buy Menu would fail to complete.
Armory
Of course, while Premier Season Five is the most crucial detail in this update of CS2, there are no less noticeable new weapon and sticker collections in the Armory. First, we should mention that Train 2025 and Sport & Field weapon collections and Sugarface 2 and Elemental Craft sticker collections are no longer available in the Armory.

These collections were replaced by the Spy Tech and Arabesque weapon collections, and the Fruits & Vegetables and Auto Racing sticker collections. If your hobby for the last couple of months was collecting your Armory Credits, then it is the right time to spend all of them and try to get some purple or even red items. But what exactly can you find in weapon collections?

The Spy Tech Collection contains skins with a modern, even futuristic aesthetic, as seen in some sci-fi TV shows. It could be a great addition to the loadout for players who calculate every move and every shot. In contrast, there are several more thematic skins featuring snakes, Middle Eastern ornaments, and even the genie in the Arabesque Collection. You definitely won’t face them on the opposite team.

Workshop
In the new update of CS2, there are some changes to the Workshop as well. First, Valve added an option to include a dedicated overlay mask texture. Also, there is an option to set unique overlay UV randomization separate from albedo UV randomization.
Misc
Among other changes, the performance cost of displaying the scoreboard was reduced. Moreover, Valve fixed a case where material blending effects would disappear when you got too close. For example, as it could happen with the dirt on the barrels in Inferno Banana.
The developers also added a sticker rotation precision. In other words, players can now make half-degree increments on the application screen, creating more accurate sticker crafts.
Map Scripting
In addition to the previous changes in the CS2 update, there are other additions and improvements:
- Added Instance.QueueAfterThinks.
- Added Instance.OnWeaponDrop.
- Added CSWeaponBase.GetOriginalOwner.
- Fixed a crash when the name passed to Instance.RegisterCheatCommand collided with an existing command.
- Added file name and line number to errors caught during the CompileModule step of script loading.
- Removed support for deprecated VTS assets.
Engine
No less important is that Valve updated the engine code to the latest version of Source 2. Of course, in terms of visualization, it means almost nothing. In reality, this CS2 update improves game stability and makes everything run a bit smoother.
Maps

The last part of the new update of CS2 is the maps. First, Valve removed community maps from all game modes. It includes Warden, Stronghold, Alpine, and Sanctum. Instead, Wingman mode got Debris and El Dorado, while Boulder, Fachwerk, and Shelter joined Competitive, Casual, and Deathmatch modes.
Also, some maps got slight fixes:
- There are various clipping adjustments on Cache.
- On Dust II, Valve fixed the pixel gap in Outside Tunnel and made a clipping adjustment at this location.
- On Inferno, they fixed clipping to prevent pixel boost at Top of Mid.
Overall
Seeing changes in the Active Duty Map Pool and new ways to show your preferences and style by using weapon skins and stickers is always exciting. With the new CS2 update, it is more than possible. Moreover, you can both rise through the Premier ranks on Cache and explore new community maps in Competitive or other modes. Or, as an alternative, play only Overpass as a sign of your loyalty to the map that features a modern European canal setting. In the end, the choice is always yours.
